Math sucks (first blog!)

My motivation is terrible. No idea why, but usually if I get a game idea I can work for a few days and then find a new one to be dragged into. Never-ending loop that also never lets me work on older games of mine. I have worked on some older games, but it's on very rare occasions if I feel like it. It really sucks.. I think it's something to do with the fact I have a form of ADHD, which apparently is a disorder where the brain has less dopamine in it than usual. That or makes less, I could care less. I despise it too. Maybe I get tired of looking at the same project over and over. How do people do it? Working on the same project for years on end. A problem I do have when thinking of other games is the fact I always assume they were working for constant days without stopping. I'm starting to realize most usually take month-long breaks, similar to me.

Slop is fucking EVERYWHERE

Setting up a personal discord server where I can share stuff I make would be pretty cool. I think that would help with keeping myself motivated; seeing people like what I make would probably do some amount of help. I really love games that actually seem like they listen to the community. Like ARMORED WARFARE, Mecha Cubes, you name it. Really just those types of games have this feeling to them, like they were made with soul and love. Where did that go on ROBLOX? It's all just monetized slop trying harder and harder to keep you playing for hours, and its working too well for children. Literally, it's getting to be predatory at this point. That one Steal An Egg game with tiktok scrolling genuinely fucking blew me away. How far are people going for Robux dude, holy shit.

Cube Game

Cube Game (name not final, WILL be changed) is one of my more original concepts for a Roblox game. I've drifted away from making core games, I've decided to go back to my roots of just making random stuff. The game is simple; you stand on a cube made of Cubelets, similar to a Rubik's Cube. Those cubelets can have "events" happen to them. Unlike other event games like Plates of Fate, events can happen on any exposed face of a cubelet. Currently I've only got a spike event and the rest of the game doesn't even exist yet, but I like the potential this game has.

The Power of Raycasting

For picking out unobstructed faces, I used raycasting in all possible directions, X,Y,Z,-X,-Y,-Z. If the raycast runs into another cubelet, that direction is taken out of the table of unobstructed faces. Rinse and repeat for all directions and you have your list of unobstructed faces. Because the cubes are made of really few parts, I just decided to have the raycast run each time an event wants to do something on a cubelet. I could give less of a shit to set up a whole cached direction table and everything; too much work for a simple game. I don't even think raycasts use up all that much time either. Take that with a grain of salt, I don't actually know how raycasts work.

PEMDAS strikes again

For a little while I was having some errors about adding vector3s and regular numbers together. I couldn't figure out why, but alas, PEMDAS. The multipulcation was running before numbers could be added, so they instead tried to add to the vector3s, and boom, error. Sometimes I actually wonder how Roblox's back-end works. I remember I once made a mini-module that could turn two vector3s (position and rotation) into what I called a Vector6. It was literally just a watered down CFrame but as a table...

I ran out of ideas for what to put here.

If one of you fuckers tries to say I don't have ADHD, I was literally confirmed to have it by a therapist/psychologist I was going to for a few weeks. Weirdly enough, those games that try to get regular people hooked just.. don't work for me? It's really weird. I'm more into puzzles. I remember one of my family members bought me a supposedly hard wood puzzle. I finished it in like 5 minutes. My brain runs so fast too. I did try ADHD meds once, I don't remember if they worked, but the one thing I do remember is they fucked up my heart for awhile. I was pulled out of school by the nurse on that day since my resting BPM was somewhere like 173. I originally went to the nurse because I was doing a breath-holding contest with my friend and I couldn't hold it for longer than 5 seconds (I've gone 43 seconds before then), and I felt my chest and my heart was racing. After I got home from school I think my blood pressure jacked up because I felt my sternum and it was beating pretty hard and slow.
